Artist Spotlight - Marcia Hamilton

You know there are some really really dope artists on Instagram and other social media platforms who I feel are SO dope, but sometimes are just off in the Cut chillin’. This week I wanted to High Light a very talented and amazing Editorial Hair Artist Marcia Hamilton!

I have been in love with Marcia’s work for years she has always been able to be so original and fresh with each look that she coiffed. I think there is a difference between a salon Artist and a editorial Artist. Although one can do both the editorial artist blends unconventional shapes and abstract creativity to produce a moment that will be captured in time. The salon Artist creates shapes or does color placement that can go on for a while in a client’s everyday life. Marcia is able to create a whole moment through her work that tells a story. Its amazing to me how her creativity flows and is captured through photography. Marcia has been working in Los Angeles for years even before I arrived and I would always see her work in publications while I was still practicing and perfecting my own craft. She has definitely always been a source of great inspiration for me and is a well known industry great. Marcia has worked with so many notable people that the list could go on and on from Jada Pinkett Smith, Tracee Ellis Ross, Alicia Keyes, and so many more. One word of advice that Marcia has said is to “ do the things that your afraid of”. You can’t grow or be challenged without trying something that scares you a little bit. I’m very sure this is the key to her success as she continues to wow us all with her beautiful artistry. To see more of Marica Hamilton’s work check her out on IG @marciahamilton
