Balancing Emotions and Your Mental State of Mind to Stay on the Path of Destiny

Everybody wants to do different things in life. We also want to achieve our dreams, but along our path of achieving what we want there are going to be some challenges. Challenges to be faced can include not having enough money, not having enough skills, not having the right people in your life, not having the best advantages starting off, no clarity on which direction to take, or how to even start. However, out of all those challenges the most difficult one is mastering your mental and emotional state of mind. If you can’t get control of your mental and emotional self then you will fail at many of these challenges.

Before you can start conquering your career objectives or mission, you have to address your emotional and mental state to prepare for the journey. The greatest athlete can be the best in the game but if he doesn’t know who he is then third best in the game can always get an advantage over him. Those other challenges that you face will never be conquered if you doubt yourself or give up due to insecurities every time one gets you down. You have to be mentally and emotionally strong enough to get knocked down and get back up again. Those who don’t have those aspects in check will get knocked down and stay down which will allow everyone else to get a step ahead of you.

While you’re sitting somewhere feeling sorry for yourself others are running the marathon and passing you up. By the time you’ve come to your senses you are already so far behind that it's like climbing a mountain for you to get back in the game.

I only speak about what I know and of course I only know because I have been there before. Allowing my insecurities to get me down and slow me down has been one of the biggest challenges. “He who cries cries alone and he who laughs laughs with many."  When your down you’ll notice that not too many people will sit there in that space with you. The only other person who might come to join you there is misery herself and that’s definitely not a motivational type of company you want to have sitting with you.

Now don’t get me wrong. I still have my moments. It’s something that you have to work on and you have to keep in check on a daily basis. Similar to exercising. You can go so long and be real strong for a while, but as soon as you get lazy and give up on the practice of keeping your emotional and mental state in check you will run the risk of going down again. Sometimes harder than you did the time before. It can be very challenging to keep a good momentum with it. When you start a new diet its always harder at first because you have built up enough discipline first, but over time once you keep up the practice things can get easier.

Mental and Emotional control can take lots of time and those challenging moments will always come to test you. Soon as you start to recognize that is when challenges come. They are just really coming to ask you, “Are you mentally strong?" "Do you have control of your emotions?” To be honest, I still fall short here and there. However, with age comes wisdom and I have gotten better with recognizing the tests. What also comes with age are more tests.

At this point I already know that when I feel that I’m going to be out of control I simply have to ask myself what am I reacting to? If I react will I be satisfied with the effects of the reaction? Does this reaction take me closer to my goal or keep me further away from the goal? Nine times out of ten it doesn't provide me a solution and I have learned this the hard way on so many occasions. On the contrary, if I respond to the challenge I have an opportunity to influence the challenge in a positive way that I gain enlightenment from the situation verses losing to the situation.

Emotions can get the best of you if you let them rule you. Yes, they are powerful and can sweep over you like a tidal wave! When you allow yourself to run free with your emotions; check your intuition or logic. It can have you in a real bad situation that can feel almost impossible to get out of. Some people actually don’t have a hard time with this part because they are not emotional people. Those people usually have issues with controlling their mental state of mind. Over thinking a situation until you are paralyzed from not knowing the best choice to make because you have created too many scenarios in your head of how the outcome should be.

Although both mental and emotional control can be difficult to keep in check, you can find the balance. Everything in nature has to stay in balance to be in harmony. We have the balance of night and day, Winter and Summer, positive and negative, light and dark, yes or no, even hair needs a balance between moisture and protein in order to be healthy. To get the most out of your experiences you have to have a balance between emotions and your mental state of mind. You have to know when to let things go (figuratively or literally).
